BofA, Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and GMAC are accused of fraud.

Dec-01-2011 -- The lawsuit could serve as a road map for other states, including California.

The nation's five biggest mortgage lenders are facing a major legal challenge in Massachusetts to seek relief for homeowners foreclosed on during the housing crisis, a case that could have reverberations for consumers across the nation.

In the first such lawsuit filed by a state, Massachusetts Atty. Gen. Martha Coakley claims that Bank of America Corp., Wells Fargo & Co., JPMorgan Chase & Co., Citigroup Inc. and GMAC Mortgage used fraudulent documentation in the foreclosure processes, took back homes without showing they owned the actual mortgages, and failed to uphold loan modification promises to borrowers in the state. Also named is the electronic mortgage registry known as MERS, which was set up by banks to track ownership changes.

Nov-23-2011--US President Barack Obama was interrupted by "Occupy" activists who shouted a message during his speech in New Hampshire Tuesday. Obama told the protesters he had let them "make your point, let me go ahead and make mine".

Egypt protesters call for postponement of elections

Nov-23-2011--Egyptian protesters want elections scheduled for Monday to be postponed and a council of elders to replace the military rulers who on Wednesday again sent in security forces to quell demonstrating crowds.

The current protests are seen as a second -- and decisive -- phase of the January revolution that led to the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak.

In the symbolic heart of the revolution, Tahrir Square, demonstrators were chanting the same slogans used 11 months ago, but this time directing them at the interim military ruler,

"If the wheels of democracy move on Egypt and this problem is still here, then democracy will have failed,"

The bloodshed continued for a fifth consecutive day despite international appeals for calm and limited concessions put forth by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to address demands that it transfer power to a civilian transitional authority immediately.

The council ceded no new ground, however, and nobody could say for sure how to rescue a country whose uprising against authoritarianism had captured the world's imagination and inspired other Arab revolts.

Nov-04-2011--G20 leaders have ended their summit in Cannes after two days dominated by Greek turmoil and the threat to the euro zone and beyond.

Many big issues have been put to one side. Leaders vowed to boost the resources of the International Monetary Fund.

But no countries outside the euro zone have agreed to contribute to its bailout fund.

Barack Obama found a positive way to tell Europe to sort out its debt crisis.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 61.23 points, or 0.51%, to 11983.24, and snapped a streak of five weekly gains by falling 2% for the week. The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index shed 7.92 points, or 0.63%, to 1253.23, ending its own weekly winning streak at four.
