May-23-2011--An Icelandic volcanic eruption pushed an ash cloud toward the UK, curtailing US President Barack Obama's visit to Ireland and threatening to snarl air traffic across Europe.
Iceland’s Met Office said late yesterday that the force of the eruption beneath Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajokull, was little changed even as the height of the plume sank to about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) from about 20 kilometers at the start.
