Obama to GOP rivals: War in Iran "not a game"

Obama to GOP rivals:
War in Iran .................. "not a game"
March-06-2012 -- At a news conference at the White House on Tuesday, President Obama lashed out at Mitt Romney and the other GOP presidential candidates for "the casualness with which some of these folks talk about war," saying their rhetoric on Iran reflects the fact that they "don't have a lot of responsibilities."
The president was asked about Romney's claim that
"If Barack Obama gets re-elected, Iran will have a nuclear weapon." He responded first by pointing to his record, saying his administration has imposed "crippling sanctions" against Iran that have isolated the nation in an "unprecedented" way and significantly damaged its government economically.
He went on to say that while "we will not countenance Iran getting a nuclear weapon," he believes that "we have a window of opportunity where this can still be resolved diplomatically."

GOP voters focusing on economy,
beating Obama

March-06-2012 -- WASHINGTON - Ohio Republicans are overwhelmingly upset with the federal government and deeply worried about the direction of the national economy, according to early results of an exit poll of voters in the state's GOP presidential primary. Of the 10 states holding Super Tuesday Republican presidential contests, Ohio was seen as the day's key battleground because it stood as one of the best chances that former Pennsylvania Sen Rick Santorum had in a major state of slowing Mitt Romney's drive toward the GOP nomination. Ohio is historically crucial for GOP chances of capturing the White House.

Is Super Tuesday
Really All That Super?

March-06-2012--Is Super Tuesday really all that Super?
Not as super as it used to be. In 2012, the large cluster of presidential primaries won't carry quite as much weight as it has in the past—no matter what cable news tells you. But the 10 states voting Tuesday will still shape, if not shake up, the GOP nomination fight—and the ongoing battle for delegates.

US, Israel Pull Closer on Iran
March-05-2012-- WASHINGTON -US officials said they believed pressure has eased on Israel to attack Iran, after meetings Monday between American and Israeli leaders and tougher talk from the US that moved it closer to Israel's approach. Israeli officials, meanwhile, said that President Barack Obama's public and private acknowledgment of the Jewish state's sovereign right to defend itself was a crucial gain as the two countries seek to deter Tehran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also praised Mr. Obama's stated willingness in recent days to use U.S. military might to counter Iran.
"We managed to convince the international community that we are talking about a real threat and danger" from Iran's nuclear ambitions, Mr. Netanyahu said after the meetings. "[Israel has] put the Iranian issue on the international order of priorities."

Two quakes struck at active part
of Hayward Fault
March-05-2012 --EL CERRITO -- The two earthquakes that struck just seconds apart in El Cerrito early Monday were centered on an area of the Hayward Fault that has seen a cluster of temblors over the last 40 years,
A 4.0-magnitude quake struck near the Mira Vista Country Club on Arlington Boulevard in the El Cerrito hills at 5:33 a.m., eight seconds after a 3.5 quake hit roughly a quarter-mile to the northeast. Each quake had a depth of about 5 1/2 miles, seismologists said. None of the 18 quakes since 1972 has been greater than 4.0, Uhrhammer said. Researchers don't know whether the El Cerrito portion is more likely than quieter sections to produce the 7.5-magnitude quake that seismologists believe the Hayward Fault is capable of.

The Earthquake Commission found that the San Andreas Fault shifted along this length of more than 200 miles. How is that possible? How could the Earth have shifted suddenly over such a great distance? There had been no earthquake that had been seen like this before. And it was a question that confounded scientists until the development of Plate Tectonics Theory in the 1960's.
